Thailand 1

Written by Martin on janvier 2nd, 2012. Posted in Allgemein

Welcome to Thailand :-) Right after arrival Martin enjoys some delicious Thai food with Dominik and Pong, while...
...Sebas is still recovering from high fever trying to get somehow ready for the beach
...and THAT beach definitely helps! We end up on Koh Kut island and both of us didn\'t know that such a paradise still exists... beautiful palm tree covered beaches, crystal clear water and almost no tourists.. perfect!!
This is the view from our bungalow... ready for vacation? :-)We can\'t believe that not even 24 hours ago we flew by Mt. Everest...
This piece of paradise doesn\'t only offer top beaches around the island, there are also two waterfalls hidden in the jungle...
The basin of the waterfall is pefect to swim and even better: jumping from the waterfall cliffs! Here Dominik is trying himself as a base jumper.. let\'s see, maybe he makes it to a Red Bull sponsoring :-)
Tarzan trying to swing to the other side of the basin... didn\'t quite make it though :-)
Exploring the back side of the waterfall
When in Rome, do it like the Roman\'s, is what Martin\'s dad always uses to say... well, here we go, 3 of us on one bike... and there was even room for 5 more :-)
As good as it can get :-)
Just another place where Martin wished he could share it with Eva... luckily...
...Dominik knows exactly what he needs to draw off his attention to something else :-)
Every single night we could wittness the most beautiful sunsets...
Sebas at one of the small piers where the view visitors arrive
Even though the inland is all jungle, there are no dangerous animals on this island...
The fisherman\'s port. We were said it\'s also used to smuggle goods from nearby Cambodia
At the second waterfall Sebas and his brother Flo can not resist to do it like in the good old times... doing a header (and loosing their shorts under water...)
What to say... thumbs up!!
Wherever we go, this island is just awesome
Watching the stars at night
At the pool of a 5* resort we enjoy a wonderful sunset scenery followed by another one :-)
Back in BKK we meet the great guys from KTM the next day in the morning and discuss the pick up of our bikes from the airport
Incredible view from Flo\'s flat
Picking up the bikes takes forever but at 6:30 pm we arrive at the KTM shop where our tires are changed for a trip to the north...
...which starts the next day at 4:30 am (!!). Luckily there\'s a McDonald to get a coffeein infusion before we head off :-)
Right on the first day there\'s an accident, luckily nothing serious happened besides a broken angle and a bike that broke in two. Seems it was a good idea to take a van with us :-)
In Chang Mai they seem to have a clinic for everything :)
Having dinner with Pi Tui and his wife
Next accident on the 2nd day, luckily again nothing happens to the biker, nor the bike
A short stop on the way north. The group we are driving with is just great!
The 2nd day we end up in a village where most of the inhabitants are Chinese. During the Chinese revolution, many Chinese fled over Thailand to Taiwan... and some stayed here
Enjoying a great chinese dinner
Group photo, the KTM Adventure is the most sold KTM bike in Thailand btw..
On the way back to Bangkok Sukie we get to this beautiful dam...
...the boats are also used for water skiing :-)
...that we cross with an old school ferry towed by a boat...
Sebas risking his life while trying to keep up with the rest of the group and taking pictures at the same time
In Mae Sot where we are going to wittness a inauguration ceremony for a Bhudda statue, we visit the border with Myanmar, where burmese sales people...
sell you all important things one needs :-)
Tasting yummy sweet sticky rice that is prepared in bamboo sticks btw.
It was not only exciting to be part of the ceremony that consisted of different meditation and yoga sessions, the same evening we could also observe a full moon eclipse
After the ceremony there\'s lunch and kids get presents - not very useful ones as we think, as it\'s mostly plastic weapons and battery driven plastic guitars.
At the small village temple where the last part of the chanting takes place
The brothers watching the sunset at Flo\' flat. Did we already mention that his view is just incredible? :-)
Flo works as a designer and architect and before we head for dinner, we have a look at the bar of a hotel he re-designed...
... the bar is perfect and invites guests to sit back, enjoy a cold drink while overlooking BKK and watch the sunset...
Flo and Goy who had been just great and incredibly helpful with whatever we needed
Flo with Sakchai, one of his first friends he met in Thailand
What Martin needs in the morning is a coffee... as we are in a rush to pick up our tailor made pants and shirt he get\'s a coffee to go... Thai style :-)
In the streets, there are still many precautions for the flooding...
...to prevent from damage
Besides Eastbound T-shirts we also got some sticker... here Martin fixes Eva-Dos on Eva-Dos :-)
...and Escargot gets an eastound sticker
On our last evening we are invited to Sukie\'s opening of his photo vernisage. Sukie got famous in Thailand as a music and motorbike documentary produce and now found his love in photography
Group picture with our new friends with whom we did the 4 day trip...
..after the vernisage, we end up at a bar and instead of leaving at 5am direction Khao Lak we end up at 5am at home after an incredible evening. These two weeks had been just spectacular...

When in Rome, do it like the Roman's, is what Martin's dad always uses to say... well, here we go, 3 of us on one bike... and there was even room for 5 more :-) ...overlooking the beautiful coastline of this interesting city Immediately we were embraced by Turkish hospitality, who after a chat.. ...but found a fake KTM Bike... At Koh Li Pe you can have take away toilets. That's quite a business idea :) After a great night at the guesthouse where we learned a lot about how Pakistan actually works Even the lady-soldiers participate in the parade! The Petronas Twin Towers at night and with us :-) So, this was it for the moment, from Chile we go to Argentina, but only for a short time. Soon more to come :)
